PHOTO RETOUCHING PORTFOLIO

HERE IS WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS!

GISELLE – African-Indian-Irish, Caribbean Woman.

Sometimes, try as one may to prepare for an outdoor photo-shoot, things don't quite go as planned. For example, my client left home with flawless makeup, which usually remains flawless for 3-5 hours in temperate conditions, but does not function in 95°F, intense heat, tropical conditions. The heat caused her to sweat underneath the makeup, where the oil from her face cream did not mix well with the overlying makeup, causing it to crack and separate. This then gave a granular, rough texture to her skin, and emphasized cracks and wrinkles. This then needed to be retouched, post production, in order for images to look well.

WHAT WAS DONE:
  • 1. To create natural, healthy-looking skin tones in Adobe Photoshop, various color samples were made of the subject's skin. The airbrush tool was used to smoothen uneven skin tone.
  • 2. The healing-brush tool was then used to remove skin blemishes.
  • 3. The brightness-contrast and exposure levels were adjusted to reintroduce some of the natural light fall against the skin.
  • 4. The photo was then converted to black and white.
  • 5. The black and white photo was then retouched using various color filters.
