Indiana Energy Conference

A conference identity has to work from the palm of a hand to the far side of a ballroom. The Indiana Energy Conference brought program design, attendee materials, environmental graphics, pop-up displays, name plates, name tags, and signage into one coordinated event system, combining art direction, Event Branding, visual design, and production thinking across dramatically different scales.

Project Overview

One Event Identity, Built to Work at Every Scale

Conference communication changes with distance and context. A printed program must organize detailed information at reading distance, environmental signage has to communicate quickly across a room, and attendee materials need compact clarity. The Indiana Energy Conference brought all of those requirements into one integrated assignment.

The visual direction extended across program exterior and interior pages, vertical banners, horizontal signage, pop-up displays, place cards, name plates, and name tags. Each format solved a different functional problem while contributing to the same recognizable event experience.

My Role

art direction, Event Branding, visual design, Program Design, Environmental Graphics, and Production.

Project Goal

Create a recognizable conference identity that remains clear and consistent across attendee materials, printed communications, and large-format signage.

Deliverables

Conference Program, Vertical & Horizontal Signage, Pop-Up Displays, Place Cards, Name Plates, Name Tags.

Design Approach

Consistent typography, color, imagery, and hierarchy connected the conference materials without forcing them into identical compositions. Large-format graphics prioritized immediate recognition, editorial pages supported information density, and attendee pieces focused on fast, practical legibility.

The result demonstrates a core principle of event design: consistency should create recognition, not rigidity. The system changes intelligently with scale, viewing distance, content density, and production requirements while keeping the event visually unified.
