The First Church of God
Brand Identity · Anniversary Campaign · Community Communication
A 75-year church legacy and a youth initiative built around service and opportunity called for two very different visual voices. For The First Church of God, anniversary branding, environmental graphics, programs, stationery, photography, and digital communication honored institutional history and a multigenerational congregation, while Dream Youth Summit extended that community mission toward teenagers through a more energetic, aspirational identity.

Project Overview
For generations, The First Church of God has functioned as more than a place of worship. As the City of Refuge, it has served as a community anchor for families, mentorship, spiritual grounding, and outreach. That role gave the design work an added responsibility: celebrate institutional history while creating communication that still felt warm, relevant, and connected to the people the church serves.
The engagement included two related bodies of work. The church’s 75/30th Anniversary Celebration required a dignified but welcoming identity across stationery, programs, calendars, environmental signage, outdoor graphics, photography, and digital work. Dream Youth Summit extended that community mission to teenagers through a volunteer and mentorship program designed to encourage service, expose young participants to education and career possibilities, and connect them with professionals from a broad sponsor coalition.

The First Church of God’s anniversary work needed to carry the weight of a long institutional history without becoming overly formal or distant. The visual direction balanced celebration, faith, leadership, and community pride across logo design, stationery, programs, calendars, environmental signage, photography, and digital billboard graphics.
The broader relationship also revealed how differently one organization may need to speak to distinct audiences. Anniversary communication centered on heritage and multigenerational recognition. Dream Youth Summit required a younger, more kinetic visual language that could connect with teenagers at a fluid stage of becoming while remaining polished enough for the corporate, educational, healthcare, nonprofit, and community organizations supporting the program.
That contrast is central to the work: one client, two missions, and two visual systems shaped around the people each needed to reach. The First Church page focuses on the church’s anniversary and community role, while the dedicated Dream Youth Summit project explores the youth program, sponsor coalition, volunteer mission, and hurdle-inspired identity in greater depth.
The selected work focuses on the 75/30th Anniversary identity across logo design, stationery, programs, environmental graphics, outdoor communication, photography, and digital applications, followed by a concise introduction to Dream Youth Summit as an extension of the church’s community outreach.
Community Outreach
First Church of God served as the community anchor for Dream Youth Summit, bringing teenagers, families, mentors, and sponsors together around service, aspiration, and opportunity. The program encouraged primarily Black and minority teens to volunteer in their communities while meeting professionals from healthcare, higher education, banking, business, nonprofit service, ministry, and other fields.
The identity therefore had to do two jobs at once: feel energetic and relevant to teenagers still imagining who they might become, while carrying the credibility expected by the organizations helping make those possibilities visible. The full Dream Youth Summit project explores the sponsor coalition, career and education exposure, editorial booklet, and the visual thinking behind the hurdle-inspired logo.
