HERE IS WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS!

CARIBBEAN SISTERS

It's not easy to take the perfect spur-of-the-moment, getup-and-go photo. And things often don't quite go as planned. For example, Sister 1, on the left, flawlesslessly applied makeup earlier on that day; makeup that usually remains flawless for 3-5 hours in temperate conditions, but does not perform as well in 95°F, intense heat, tropical conditions. The heat caused her to sweat underneath the makeup, where the oil from her face cream did not mix well with the overlying makeup, causing it to crack and separate. This then gave a granular, rough texture to her skin, that emphasized any skin imperfections, cracks and wrinkles. Sister 2, who has smoother, darker skin, needed less retouching, but some work was done post-production, to create a smoother appearance with optimal lighting.

  • WHAT WAS DONE:
  • 1. To create natural, healthy-looking skin tones in Adobe Photoshop, various color samples were made of the subjects' skin. The airbrush tool was used to smoothen uneven skin tone.
  • 2. The shadows were lightened, so as to reveal the hidden detail.
  • 3. The healing-brush tool was then used to remove skin blemishes.
  • 4. The brightness-contrast and exposure levels were adjusted to reintroduce some of the natural light fall against the skin.
  • 5.The retouched image was then passed through Remini AI's photo-enhancer, to make the image slightly bigger with better image qualiy.
  • 6.When a suitable retouched photo was achieved, its background was then selected and passed through Photoshop's Generative AI filter to create various image backgrounds, so as to hide the more cluttered, original kitchen and living-room background.
